We Are All Whores on Sunday

Ever notice how hot you look on Saturday night?  Even if you're staying in?  With your mom?  Then notice how people look on Sunday morning in public.  Last night's makeup.  What appears to be last night's clothes. The look in the eyes screams "Eggs!!!  Cheese!" and if you aren't me, "Bacon!"  We all look like we've been a cast off from a Rhianna song, doing it all night long and when the lights lift, suddenly we dip to minus 4 degrees sexy.

So Dracula and I have finally had our good night kiss.  What an awesome book.  I've now picked up Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway.

So ever have a horrible crush? Not in a Glenn Close/Alicia Silverstone sort of way where you boil the Object Delish's beautiful life away.  Just in a Dude, You Wouldn't Be Able to Go Without a Shirt for a Week, kinda way?  Yeah.  Just saying.

And on that note, may all of our Draculas, older days of Paris and miles of things desirable cast a smile in our imaginations.

Birthdays, Belchs and Brams

I wax nostalgic about my Humanling's 14th birthday today.  And then, the winds of Sailor Belch bring me tidings from the recliner as she watches Spongebob.  Her burps aren't getting more superior with age....she's been able to do that since she was like four.

That's funny...when I sat down I had a whole flow of things to say.  And in the time that I've been sitting here I've gotten up to help pick up her meds which went all over the floor, throw the toys for the cats a few times and implore her to brush her hair before we go to pick up my mother, the Gangsta.

I also took my meds.  I am currently enjoying a voluptuous pink pill that told  me to call it, Amoxicillin.  This goes with the continuation of a root canal that I started on December 31st.  We all took a break for the new year and then I sandwiched the other side of it on the 2nd with the finale.  I walked in there all thinking, Ha.....the worst is over.  He's just going to remove the temporary filling and put in a permanent one.  I hope my odds this year of being wrong end here.

What really happened was that I was in denial.  I couldn't imagine anyone touching the tooth again, especially to go back inside of it and have a reunion.  The digging, the scraping....no amount of novocaine was enough.  Short of becoming a junkie, many needle holes in my gums, and the dentist's bewildered face every time I jumped after yet another application, I finally decided to deal with it as best as I could.

Then a diversion.  With his rubber gloved hand, the dentist cradled my chin in his hands to continue his work.  The touch was gentle and sent my mind wondering.....I was in a three year relationship.  When is the last time I recall anyone creating such a gesture?  I don't recall it at all with Flip.  He wasn't like that.  What passed for caressing my hair for a few seconds was really him getting my hair away from his face.  He hated hair near his face.   And no, my dentist is not um.....hot.  He is a super awesome dude, who I trust implicitly with my teeth.  And who is a good looking, married man.  But it isn't like that!  Let me weep a moment for myself for the lack of chin cradles and then open a booth to hand them out.

This is my year of If Not Not, When?  I love it.  It's terribly cliche but it is 100% true.  I've signed up for supplemental yoga classes.  A meditation class.  A writer's circle.  These are all at my town's library.  Why not get to know the community better and like-minded people?

I have also reached out to a local sanctuary farm to see what they need in the way of volunteers.  Humanling can join me next year at age 15.

The thing that I really need to do is that O word.........organize!!!!  I need to get together my writings, decide how many volumes of poetry they shall make and then self publish.  A snap, right?

Speaking of farms, I seem to dislike my own animals during the wee hours before waking up.  Five animals in one room at night is proving to me that I need headphones that can block out an explosion.  The cats weren't too bad.  There are three guinea pigs.....two cages.  All male.  Two of them arrived together.  One chases the other and likes to go on a dominance spree.  He did this from 5am to about 7am this morning.  The squealing war cries, the circling around the cage, the banging into the water bottle over and over.....I got out of bed at least six times to knock on the cage to subdue them, to feed them (twice), to give them fresh water....anything that might detract from the bullying situation.  They aren't always like that.  Not constantly for hours.  Eventually I took their shallow swimming pool and took the antagonist out, with a hideaway hut and some hay and put him in there to leave the other dude alone.  Eventually he calmed down after I lay there telling myself that maybe sleep isn't in the cards this morning, as he shredded newspaper in decibels the volume of an aircraft carrier.

And I begrudgingly admit, I am still reading Dracula.  I have been reading Dracula since about October.  While it hasn't been the only book I've been reading (along with magazines and newspapers), I should have finished it by now.  I think the tiny print and 1800s lingo slows me down a tad but it is really one of the most intriguing stories that I've read in a long time.  Really good vampire stories do that for me.  It's only fitting that Bram Stoker should sit alongside Anne Rice.  Make that early Anne Rice.  Anything after Queen of the Damned is probably meh.  Possibly including Queen of the Damned.  I should create a raspberry filled muffin and name it the Bran Stoker!  Hardy har har.

It is time for me to reiterate for the 12th time for the Humanling to brush the knot out of her hair.  I'd like to be back relatively soon today from our driving adventures.  And as long as the knot lives, we do not leave the house.

Stop it.  It's Knot funny.

Weekend Wish List November 23-25

I especially love when I can really experience all that is on my wish list.  This weekend is already full into Saturday so I will also include those things that I would have wanted to do on Friday.

*Clean piggie cages (done! and what a task.....new piggies are here and they have a mansion. Note to self: Rethink how to clean that particular cage.)

*Take piggies out to enjoy cage free time.

*Sweep house. I happen to love sweeping.  It feels productive.

*Clean litter box.  Really, this is scooping.  And yes it is on the list.  One thing I do not like is walking into a home that smells like animals.  Mostly my own.  I refuse to mask odors with plug ins or other chemicals like Febreeze.  I will use candles and incense though to enhance good smells.

*Read today's paper.  And then try to delve into yesterday's NY Times.  And then try to read another section from another day to chip the pile down.

*Re-arrange the hall closet where the holiday boxes are.  I really didn't think that one out when I moved in here in April.  So now things must move.

*Put up the fake tree this weekend without ornaments. Time to do the test run with the cats running up and plowing into the tree.  Squirt bottle will be full and at the ready at all times.

*Make an attempt to affordably enjoy a bourbon.  Mmmmmm!  This one is probably going to be the ultimate fantasy on the list as it may not really happen.

*Answer correspndence.  I really suck at it.  And would like folks to know that I really am thinking about them!

*Meditate.  Ahhhh......   I used to enjoy a meditation by Laurie Calbot called the Crystal Countdown.  I am currently melding that with Marc Allen's meditations.

*Talk a walk.  I would have said on the track, but it gets dark early and I'm still loafing around.  Flip's dog needs to be walked so my walk may very well be the one down the dirt road.

*Remember those wonderful affirmations that help me bear in mind that things are super easy and can be done.

*Write in my journal.  How long it has been.  A blog is not a journal and there are things that will not go into a blog that need to be recorded for oneself.

*Try to eliminate a pile or clear space where there was none.

*Remember to stay graceful for it does not come natural to me.

*Reflect.  Think.  Create what will be through my current desires & specifications.  I can't do that with noise.  I must sit and really think, craft.  I recall my days of working in NYC.  I had so much time to dream, contemplate, wish, decide, while I rode the train for two hours one way and two hours back.  The mind was fertile and burst with ideas.

*Check out the astrological weather.  Why not.

*Read some of Dracula.  I am still reading this book.  It's amazingly good I think.  I've seen the movie, but there is nothing like reading the author's words, and these words were writ in 1897, thereabouts.

*Attempt to see the last installment of Twilight.  Oh, how I will try.

I Don't Need Anything. Except This Stack of Books to Sleep On.

I'm trying a new tactic to approach that air mattress of mine tonight.  It's been bondaged with clear moving tape.  Within hours of lying down, my hip bones are on the floor if I'm on my side.  Last night I had to add air a record three times.  All in all, a blue ribbon crapola night of sleep.  Between sleeping on a piece of flat vinyl on a hardwood floor and the kitten racing around while the older one clawed relentlessly on the arms of the only piece of sitting furniture in the house, which is next to my head when I sleep.  The volume of the claws go to eleven, incidentally.

Whether or not I am consciously choosing to really feel the time of year now, my very favorite time, there is just a universe expanding in my mind right now.  Ideas, projects, desires all begging for me to get down to the gas station and pluck up that winning quick pick.  The universe just filling my soul with ideas as if there were no Off button.  It's nearly autumn....for many people, me included, it's my new year.  This is my renewal.

Incidentally, I also have on the Democratic National Convention.  I watched a part of the Republican one, it's only fair if you give your sister some too.  Julian Castro is speaking now.  How the hell do they get into office after 9th grade?  These dudes are looking younger and younger.  On top of going to the cardiologist tomorrow for a check up, I think I'm feeling closer to my age than I did before this guy took the stage.

I can't read just one book at a time. It's so tough. I recently finished Room with a View.  Then decided to read my old and musty library book sale copy of Oh to be in England. That's my track book.  When I walk, I read.  Summer makes me want to read old romances.  Ew.  Not Harlequin or Fifty Shades (loose definition of romance) but Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, literature from another time.  Stuff where stealing a kiss is a monumental, scandalous act!

But with Autumn dusting off her dresses, I have already created a stack to choose from.  Oh to be lucky to read them all during this season!  My love of loves....The Witching Hour, by Anne Rice.  How I want to read it again!  But I'd probably need to read it in Autumn on Saturn.  That one is a million pager.  Still, it made the stack.  As did Bram Stoker's Dracula.  Some works by Edgar Allen Poe.   More vampires, more witches and witchcraft....fiction and non. It all waits deliciously like Christmas!

Well, I figure I'll be pretty manless (except for receiving my daily list of why I suck - thanks Flip) by email  for awhile so I may as well delve in and enjoy the other world that I love so much.  I might add that Flip mentions how he wishes I still loved him....but why?  I haven't seen a good word about me in so long.  Why would he want that? Or anyone?  So it's up to me to make sure that I'm not that person I am accused of being.  Although I'm pretty sure that I can't possibly be, I'm willing to give it a look to fine tune where needed.

So now.  Which book will be keeping me warm at night first?
