That's the Way Uh Huh Uh Huh I like it....

It's just a few hours before my 43rd birthday.  My hands are so dry from having them in water for one reason or another that I just made my knuckles feel good for a moment by putting them up against the condensation on the beer bottle.  My hands aren't allowed to wear the color of my real age - or supposed age, thanks to the dryness from cleaning counters, piggie cages and the many washings in between feeding each species of animal in this house.

I stretch my legs out on the floor and think about the year ahead just a little.  Part of me wants to whine but it's afraid of Pollyanna who is trying to force her will onto the whole scene.

My birthday, incidentally, lands right on Election Day.  So one of the gifts I hope to give myself is another term where the President does not have a circuit board for a heart.  I am a huge Barack Obama fan and have hardly kept it a secret on Facebook.   So tomorrow, one of the first things on my list for being 43 years old is:

To go vote!

I haven't truly thought this list out but here are a few things off the top of my head that are on my 43 bucket list:

To say yes wherever I can, as long as it isn't giving me that feeling that I am entering some sort of Whoops Warp

To go to another Broadway play

To see a Phillies game

To finally get that book together of poetry for self publishing

To have a great trip out to San Diego for one of my dearest friend's weddings

To keep up momentum with exercise, perhaps going even further in my current yoga routine

to pick up my jewelry making again

ah....to actually get a bed or futon to sleep on instead of this high maintenance air mattress.  I have to put fresh tape on it nearly every single night and within hours it is flat anyway.

To embody joy

To delve further into a serene spiritual practice, reading more on it to stay immersed.

To keep a balance of what is me, whether in a relationship, a dalliance or alone.

To make reading what is on my bookshelves a priority over picking up new books (although that is not totally prohibited!)

To see The Scream in NYC while it is there

To go to NYC at least 3 times this year

To just be a good person, friend, mother and most of all, Mémé.

That's all that I have for now.  I'm impressed that I even was able to get this blog done tonight.  It's been awhile due to much recent Flip company as his power was out for a week after Hurricane Sandy.  It's been nice, familiar to be around each other.  At the same time, I realize how much of myself I am willing to put aside for others, thinking that at some point I will make up the difference.  It is still day by day.  And I don't actually know what is happening with this.  Or if I want anything to really happen.  But it's how things are for now.  Now, regardless of who you vote for, I hope you will all vote!
